Love under the Cherry blossom in Kungsträdgården

I recently had a portrait photography (so-called engagement shooting) with Johanna and Dan, who is getting married this summer. We wanted to take photographs under the blooming cherry blossoms at Kungsträdgården in Stockholm. It is an exciting challenge to capture the couple and the flowers, without capturing all the tourists who are there at the same time. I'm looking forward to the wedding!   :o)

About the cherry blossom and mono no aware

The City of Stockholm celebrates the Cherry Blossom day (or Sakura)  together with the Japanese Association every year in April. The Japanese Hanami name stands for "Spring picnic under the cherry trees". In Japanese tradition, the flower encourages humans to observe their surroundings. It also invites us to think about the essence of life itself. The different stages of bloom are reminiscent of the transience of life, a mindset that the Japanese often called mono no aware. Cherry Blossom takes place over about a 10 days period, so you have to act quickly when flowering starts.
