For clients who want to ensure they are hiring a "true professional," it is helpful to know that the Swedish Association of Professional Photographers (SFF), in collaboration with the Swedish Craft Council, provides training and certification for the titles of Journeyman and Master Photographer.

Furthermore, the Federation of European Professional Photographers (FEP) evaluates professional photographers throughout Europe to ensure international quality standards.

John Hellström holds the title of Master Photographer (Swedish certification), is a Double Master of WPPI & ICON (US certification), and holds the MQEP (Master Qualified European Photographer) designation.

Master Craftsman Diploma in Photography – Swedish Craft Council

The Master Craftsman Diploma (Mästarbrev) is the highest evidence of professional skill within a craft. It guarantees not only exceptional technical expertise and experience but also reliability as a business owner. It is issued by the Swedish Craft Council to artisans who meet the requirements set forth in the Act and Ordinance on Master Craftsman Diplomas for Artisans (SFS 1995:1255 and SFS 1995:1256). For clients, hiring a "true photographer" provides peace of mind, knowing the professional has proven mastery of the skills necessary to practice their trade at the highest level.

Master Qualified European Photographer – MQEP

John Hellström is the only Swedish photographer to have successfully passed the Federation of European Professional Photographers (FEP) rigorous quality audit—the MQEP certification—specifically for wedding photography.

Seven international top-tier photographers evaluated my print panel and judged it to be of Master Quality (MQEP).

The only way to become a Master within the American organization ICON (formerly WPPI) is to compete over many years and be evaluated by an international jury. John Hellström is the only Swedish wedding photographer to have been awarded the Double Master Honors of Excellence distinction in the United States.
